Shillong, Dec 7: The state government has frozen the bank accounts of arrested police official GK Iangrai after he was allegedly involved in misappropriation of funds for construction of Nationwide Emergency Response System( NERS) facility at Sadar Police Station Complex.
This was informed before the Meghalaya High Court on Wednesday while hearing a PIL filed on the matter.
The state also informed the court that the bank accounts of the relevant person ( Iangrai) have been frozen and a prayer has been made under Section 105 of the Criminal Procedure Code before the relevant Sessions Judge.
It is hoped that appropriate disciplinary proceedings would be initiated against the relevant person in due course, the court said.
The next hearing on the matter is scheduled to be held on March 9, 2023.
On November 2, CID sleuths arrested Iangrai, who was appointed the Commandant of the SF-10 battalion for his alleged involvement in the misappropriation of funds for construction of NERSĀ facility at Sadar PS Complex.
