Shillong, July 13: The state government has fixed the time for closure of shops in three areas in the city at 11. 30 pm instead of 10 pm.
Announcing the lifting of section 144 CrPC in the whole city, Deputy Chief Minister in-Charge Home Prestone Tynsong told reporters that in the areas near Hotel Assembly point in Khyndailad upto Wards Lake via Oakland road, Eee Cee restaurant upto jail road petrol pump, whole of Polo Hills, Quinton road, Urkaliar, the shops will have to close by 11. 30 pm.
Tynsong said security in certain areas under Police Bazar, Polo and Urkaliar will be strengthened.
He said street lighting in some parts of the city will be improved.
The East Khasi Hills duty commissioner had imposed section 144 CrPC in the entire city after 10 pm following the attack on Laitumkrah police station.
