Shillong, Feb 13: The Centre is still opening the door for talks with the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC), according to Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong.
“Therefore, we are still inviting the HNLC on behalf of the state government to please not discontinue the peace talks,” Tynsong told reporters on Tuesday.
He wanted the HNLC to decide maturely and said, “Again, I also request you to resume talks, the door is open. Think about it again, please be mature and think about the future.”
Pynursla bypass
Tynsong said the alignment of the Pynursla Bypass, which is part of the package-III of the Shillong Dawki road project, has been finalised.
He termed the allegations made in an affidavit filed before the Meghalaya High Court that the alignment for the bypass could not be finalised due to objections raised by local people as “wrong”.
“I am so happy to inform you that ultimately even the community and even the land owners have already agreed and the final alignment done by the state PWD and NHIDCL has been forwarded to the Ministry of Road Transport and headquarter of NHIDCL”, he said.
“And recently when I was in Delhi I had a detailed meeting with all the concerned officials and I am sure very soon we will be able to get the sanction,” Tynsong said.
