Govt releases Rs 36 cr for National Games preparation

Shillong, Feb 2: Sports Minister Wailadmiki Shylla has said the state government released Rs 36 crore in the first phase for team preparation for National Games in 2027.
Speaking to reporters, Shylla said Meghalaya will be participating in all 39 disciplines at the National Games.
“We have signed the host city contract and are on track with our preparations. We’ve released Rs 36 crore in the first phase for team preparation, and associations are utilizing it to recruit coaches and procure equipment,” Shylla said.
The minister expressed satisfaction with the progress, citing archery’s success with 140 medals.
“We have high hopes, and associations are working hard to bring medals in various disciplines,” he added.
Shylla said different projects have varying timelines, with most expected to be completed by December.
“We will have everything ready before the National Games start,” he said.
Woth no plans for game’s village, the minister said they are promoting home stays and hotels
“We can accommodate all athletes in existing facilities,” Shylla added.
