Govt revamps MPSC by creating recruitment boards

Shillong,Dec 5: Chief Minister Conrad  Sangma has said the government is revamping the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) and speeding up the recruitment process by creating separate recruitment boards.
“We are reforming the MPSC and entire recruitment process by creating more boards, we allow quick process of recruitment to take place. When the health recruitment board came out, doctors’ appointments which were pending for five years, were completed within three months of the new health board coming in. In order to ensure the recruitment takes place smoothly, the creation of different boards will allow immediate  recruitment and therefore what we are doing is part of the reform. There were certain government schools, higher secondary schools where principals  needed to be appointed and the case was pending for five years and the MPSC wasoverloaded and to ensure there is no delay in appointments, we started new boards precisely to reform the recruitment process”, the chief minister told reporters on Tuesday
CM justifies NCERT syllabus
Conrad justified the government’s decision to have NCERT textbooks to help students compete at the national level.
TMC leader Mukul Sangma recently opposed the move of the government.
While refusing to comment on the stand of Mukul, Conrad said  contents in some cases in state  meant for class VI or VII were taught in Meghalaya in class VIII or IX whereas in NCERT they were taught in class VI. The most crucial part is we are adapting the syllabus to adapt to our own requirements. Therefore, we will be able to complete at the national level and the courses will become slightly uniform in nature. We will be able to do the quality exercise in a much better manner and whenever the adaptation is necessary to take place, we will adapt based on our local culture and history and conditions out here and then only finalise the different syllabus for different subjects”
