According to Tynsong, the probe will be conducted by the concerned district administration, which will determine the truth behind the allegations.

Tynsong said the government welcomes any investigation into illegal coal mining, trading, and movement.

“Now, we have already asked the concerned district administration to find out the truth and then let that report comes and even that report will be sent to the government of India,” he said

Tynsong also welcomed the suggestion of Oppostion Leader Mukul Sangma that the Supreme Court should monitor coal-related issues.

He, however, declined to comment on the statement made by excise minister Kyrmen Shylla that heavy rainfall in Meghalaya could be a possible reason for the disappearance of the 4000 MT of coal, as indicated in the 31st interim report submitted by Justice BP Katakey before the Meghalaya High Court.
