Govt sets up helpline numbers to help residents stranded in Sikkim
Shillong,Oct 6: The state government has activated the helpline number 1800-345-3644 for citizens of Meghalaya who may require assistance due to the natural calamity in Sikkim.
A government statement said in case of emergency, students can contact A. Ali, Additional Director of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Meghalaya Contact no: 98630 63305 and FB Ramsiej, Deputy Director Higher and Technical Education, Contact No: 7005037347 for coordination and redressal of issues.
Cabinet minister Paul Lyngdoh said arrangements have been made to bring back students of the state from natural calamity hit Sikkim.
“As soon as the news reached the state government, we sent transport facilities to pick up students stranded in Sikkim. As we speak, students are being picked,” Lyngdoh told reporters.
“Based on the advisory that they should leave Sikkim immediately, we have taken it very seriously and we hope that within the next 2-3 days the operation will be completed,” he added.
