Govt to discuss Harijan Colony relocation next week
Shillong April 19: A meeting will be held next week to discuss the relocation of 342 families of Harijan Colony from Them Iew Mawlong.
Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Urban Affairs Sniawbhalang Dhar on Wednesday told reporters that a meeting will be held next week as the deadline served to the Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC) to reply to the government’s proposal expired on April 10.
“As of now, there is no reply from them (HPC). Therefore, next week the government will meet to discuss the next course of action on the matter,” Dhar said.
He said the government wants to resolve it within this month as the court also desired so.
Dhar said, “We are yet to fix the date for the meeting as when I am in station deputy CM in-charge Home Prestone Tynsong is not there and when he is here I am not in station. So I will be waiting for him and likely by next week we will have a meeting to discuss this issue.”
