Conrad said the government is working on a mechanism to monitor the situation, considering factors such as the law and order scenario and events happening in neighbouring Assam and Bangladesh.

“Regarding the issue of monitoring the overall situation in terms of people coming into the state and going out of the state, it is a matter of concern, keeping in mind so many factors, things happening in Assam, things happening in Bangladesh. So if you look at the overall law and order scenario, it is important for us to come up with a very strong mechanism,” he said.

The chief minister said the government will engage with different stakeholders before sharing the details regarding the initiatives.

“We had some challenges when it comes to MRSSA. Therefore, based on the discussion we have had with the law department and other individuals and of course, consultations with the senior ministers and senior officials, we are working on something. I think it will be too early for me to say or give details about it. We will be engaging with different stakeholders then we will be sharing it with the public at large,” he said.

Conrad recently updated the Union Home Minister about the situation on the border of Assam and Meghalaya, as well as the India-Bangladesh border.

“I have updated about the situation on the border of Assam and Meghalaya, as well as the update of the situation in India and the India-Bangladesh border. From the law and order point of view, of course, the home minister got the intelligence reports coming to him, but as a chief minister, it is my responsibility to update him about the different internal security measures and issues as well as whatever is happening on the border in terms of India and Bangladesh,” he said.
