Shillong, Feb 26: The state government will release appointment letters to 3,000 applicants in police force shortly.
In reply to a question by Ardent Basaiawmoit (VPP), Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home Prestone Tynsong informed the Assembly that on Wednesday, the recruitment of 3000 personnel was cleared and the appointment letters will be issued soon
To supplementary questions, Tynsong said there are currently not less than 1,000 vacancies.
Police-population ratio
To supplementary questions raised by Mawlai MLA Brightstarwell Marbaniang regarding the difference in police population, Tynsong said the government will examine the matter.
Misuse of police personnel
The deputy chief minister also assured action against misuse of police personnel in the houses of VIPs, in reply to another question by Marbaniang.
