Govt to provide subsidised fertiliser & seeds to farmers

Shillong, March 10: Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh has said the government will provide subsidised fertilizer, pesticides, and seeds to the farmers in West Garo Hills.

In reply to a question by Mizanur Kazi (TMC) in the Assembly, Lyngdoh said that the availability of subsidized agricultural inputs in the district are high yielding variety & hybrid  paddy & maize seeds, sprayers, integrated pest management kits and farmers can avail these subsidised inputs through field functionaries of the department.
She said the government is working on improving irrigation facilities to support farmers, especially during dry spells.
No upgrade of Mawryngkneng C&RD 
Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong has said that there is no plan by the government to upgrade Mawryngkneng Community & Rural Development Block to a Civil Sub-Division.
Tynsong assured that the government will look into the proposal while replying to a question  by VPP MLA from Mawryngkneng Heaving Stone Kharpran.
Kharpran wanted the government to consider upgrading the Mawryngkneng C&RD Block to a Civil Sub-Division.
Dadenggre Water Supply Scheme
Public Health Engineering Minister Marcuise N Marak said the augmentation of Dadenggre Water Supply Scheme is completed and has provided functional household tap connections coverage to 856 households.
In reply to question asked by TMC MLA Rupa Marak, Marcuse said that the scheme was sanctioned on July 16, 2021 for an amount of Rs 7,29,18,000.00. The scheme covers 2 villages – Ajrigre & Dadenggre.
The scheme provides coverage to Modelgre which is one of the localities under Dadenggre village.
“The scheme is physically completed and has provided FHTCs coverage to 856 households,” Marcuise said.
“The water storage tank at Mejadu was constructed under the original Dadenggre Water Supply Scheme sanctioned during the year 1977-78,”  he said.
The upto-date financial expenditure is Rs 7.023 crore.
