Shillong, March 15: The state government will release the pending salary of SSA teachers for two months.
This was decided in a meeting on Wednesday chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong in the presence of education minister Rakkam A Sangma and a delegation of the Meghalaya Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Schools Association (MSSASA).
MSSASA president Aristotle C Rymbai wanted some budget provision so that the teachers need not agitate as happened in the past.
The government is in favour of allocating funds in state budget 2023-24
Rationalisation of appointment of SSA teachers in both upper and lower primary schools and activating the Meghalaya Education Commission are other pending issues.
Wait for CUET exemption
The government is yet to get any reply from the Centre on the plea of the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to exempt Meghalaya from conducting the Common University Entrance Test (CUET).
Rakkam told reporters that after the matter was taken up by the chief minister, the response is awaited from the Centre.
The Centre had granted exemption last year.
