Shillong, Aug 13: Deputy Chief Minister in charge of District Council Affairs (DCA), Prestone Tynsong, has said the government will release the share of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), which will help to clear the pending salaries.
“Very soon, the share will be released to GHADC, and once that is done, I am very sure they will be able to clear the salary of their employees,” Tynsong told reporters on Wednesday.
Tynsong wanted the GHADC to generate its resources, rather than relying solely on government shares.
“I appeal to the Chief Executive Member (CEM) and Executive Council (EC) to convince employees to be patient and take responsibility for generating their resources,” he said.
Prestone stressed the importance of self-reliance for other autonomous district councils, including KHADC and JHADC.
“The ADCs have to understand that they have their own constitutional identity and have provisions under the Sixth Schedule to generate revenue.
