Shillong,June 14: The state goverment will spend Rs 5,000 crore in tourism sector which will create 50,000 jobs in Meghalaya.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said this while addressing the convocation 2024 of the ICFAI University Meghalaya on Friday at Convention Centre here.
Sangma said in IT sector, with Rs 1500 crore, the goverment expects to generate 20,000 jobs.
Calling the youths to adapt to changes, heĀ said submarine cables will be set up by a service provider to improve communication besides setting up of a three-tier data centre.
The chief minister said optical fibres will reach every corner of the state and with this, the education scenario will change at the grass root level and stressed that the job seekers should be ready to face these challenges.
