Shillong, Dec 17: Governor CH Vijayashankar has approved February 21 next year as the date for holding KHADC and JHADC polls as decided by the cabinet.
Counting of votes will be on February 24
The governor approved the calendar of holding polls on December 16.
Deputy chief minister in-charge district council affairs Prestone Tynsong said the notification for the elections will be issued on January 27 while the last date of filing of nominations will be on February 3 and on the same day will be the scrutiny of nomination papers and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is on February 4.
The date of publication of the draft electoral rolls will be on January 13 and the last date of filing of claims and objections is on January 22, disposal of claims will be on January 24 and final publication of electoral rolls will be on January 27.
Tynsong said the model code of conduct will be effective from the date of publication of the notification on January 27 in the districts falling under the jurisdiction of the KHADC and JHADC.
The fund for election will be deducted from the shares payable to the KHADC and the JHADC.
