Shillong, April 22: A stakeholders’ meeting on Umroi airport was held on April 8 for evaluation of safety assessment for execution stage .
The pending PlL on the airport was taken up by the High Court of Meghalaya on Wednesday

The safety documents were prepared and have been sent to Airport Authority of India for vetting before submission to DGCA.
After the environment clearance, work order for expansion of the Shillong Airport, including runway extension, expansion of Terminal Building and Apron and other allied works has been awarded to M/s KCC Buildcon Pvt. Ltd. on April 1 .
The clause 6 of the agreement says that the time allowed for carrying out the construction work will be 18 months (including 3 months considered for rains).
