HC takes up PIL on damage to PA Sangma stadium

Shillong,June 28: The High Court of Meghalaya heard a PIL on Wednesday against the collapse of the retaining wall of the football stadium of the PA Sangma Sports Complex in West Garo Hills.

The division bench has directed that all the respondents should be informed that the matter will appear after a week.

“In particular, the fourth respondent should indicate the contractual specifications that may not have been followed and the period of warranty during which the contractor is required to set right anything found remiss,” the court said.

The state should clear the debris from the road alongside the PA Sangma Stadium in Tura which appears to be blocked and local residents may be facing serious problems as a consequence, the bench said.

The next hearing will be held on July 6.

The PIL was filed by Amit R Marak

The state government has already ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident.
