Shillong, Apr 4: BJP leader AL Hek has termed the demand to remove the state party president Rikman G Momin as unnecessary.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Hek said the demand was unnecessary as Momin was only following directions of the central leadership of the party.
Momin was criticised by some members for failing to convince the party’s central leadership to contest the two Lok Sabha seats.
“I cannot blame Momin, our president. He just took over recently only, so you understand, he has to carry on with the instruction and direction given by the centre,” Hek said and added that he was just doing his duty and responsibility.
Refrain from adverse remarks: Hek to NPP
Hek has also requested the NPP to refrain from comments which can harm the understanding among the BJP and the NPP.
“Therefore, I request our NDA partners to refrain from any kind of provocation against BJP karyakartas,” he said.
BJP state vice president and Tura MDC Bernard N Marka had demanded NPP legislator from Mahendraganj Sanjay A Sangma to apologise for hurting the sentiments of BJP supporters in Garo Hills by claiming that “NPP had switched off the BJP candidate”.
BJP leader said that the matter was already taken up with the NPP national president Conrad Sangma.
