Shillong, April 2: Cabinet minister AL Hek has criticised Bangladesh interim government’s chief advisor Muhammad Yunus for belittling the Northeastern states.
During his visit to China and inviting investors Yunus had said, “The seven states of India, the eastern part of India, are called the seven sisters. They are a landlocked region of India. They have no way to reach out to the ocean. Bangladesh is the guardian of the ocean for the region. This opens up a huge possibility. This could be an extension for the Chinese economy.”
In his response, Hek said, “We will not allow any outside force to interfere with our country particularly in the North East. Why should we allow people from outside to interfere?”
According to Hek, the statement made by the Bangladesh leader will not be tolerated.
Earlier, the statement of Yunus had evoked criticism from political leaders of the region.
