HNLC Vice Chairman  Suifyan A Hazarika alias Manbhalang Jyrwa resigns

Shillong, Sep 28: HNLC Vice Chairman  Suifyan A Hazarika alias Manbhalang Jyrwa resigned (middle in picture) from the post, on Thursday.

The resignation letter was accepted by HNLC’s central executive committee (CEC).

Teimiki Laloo is the new vice chairman of the HNLC.

The HNLC, however, reiterated that this will not affect the peace talks.

“In a statement, the general secretary-cum-publicity secretary Sainkupar Nongtraw said”, We are delighted to formally announce that Sufiyan A. Hazarika, also known as Manbhalang Jyrwa, has submitted his resignation letter, which we have accepted based on humanitarian considerations. The CEC has appointed Teimiki Laloo as the newly appointed Vice Chairman for a duration of six months”

Asserting that Jyrwa’s resignation will not have any detrimental impact or undermine the strength and values upheld by the outfit, Nongtraw said, “Our unwavering principles remain unchanged, regardless of the change in leadership. We hope that the people of our Hynńiewtrep community will continue to hold Manbhalang Jyrwa in high regard, treating him with respect and dignity as a fellow human being”.

The HNLC has urged the state government to refrain from exploiting Jyrwa’s resignation and instead prioritize the peace talks.

“Furthermore, we sincerely hope that the government will refrain from exploiting Jyrwa’s resignation and instead prioritize the peace talks. It is vital to note that Jyrwa’s resignation will not impede the progress of the peace process,” Nongtraw added.

According to Nongtraw, moving forward, the delegation in charge of leading the peace process will be guided by the newly appointed Vice Chairman, Teimiki Laloo.
