Shillong, June 25: Two persons were arrested for stabbing a Hynniewtrep National Youth Movement (HNYM) member, on Saturday night.
According to the police, the incident took place at Mawblei under Madanryting police station due to a drunken brawl between the accused and the victim after 11 pm.
The victim identified as Diness Mynsong is undergoing treatment at NEIGRIHMS.
His wife filed an FIR prompting police action.
He is a member of HNYM Mawjam unit under Mawkynrew.
There were stab wounds on his throat and left ear.
The prime accused, Shiningstar Wahlang was arrested initially, later one more person was held.
The police ruled out that the accused were drug addicts after the HNYM president Louis Dohtdong claimed that they were into substance abuse.
According to the HNYM president, two members of HNYM were attacked at Mawblei. While Diness was stabbed by Shiningstar, another accused fled after fighting with the friend of Diness who is also an HNYM member. The HNYM members were returning after work.
