Editor,
It’s been a week since the unfortunate incident happened to (L) Huddersfield Rymbui. And yet no proper statement from the state government has been given in this regard. His family and friends are still reeling from the loss of their beloved son. He was a friend and colleague who was always there for anyone when in need.
On Friday, citizens who did not know him personally also came out in numbers to stand in solidarity with his family’s fight for justice. This clearly shows that we as concerned citizens are all fed up and frustrated that an incident that could have been avoided turned into a nightmare just because of our people in power.
As a citizen who joined in the candlelight vigil, it was heartwarming to listen to his loved ones describe how Bah Hu was and how devastating this incident affected every one of us. He was too young and had a whole life ahead of him. Let this be an eye-opener for everyone that the VIP culture prevailing in our state should be banned. The rule of law does not apply only to commoners but the lawmakers as well.
Let us not allow this ‘DISEASE OF HIGH-HANDEDNESS’ to be the death of us. We as citizens have the right to stand up and fight for this. We could not be there for Bah Hu on November 15, but as responsible citizens let us ensure that justice is served and those who are responsible should be held accountable for it.
Yours etc.,
A concerned citizen
