
Shillong, July 20: Meghalaya Human Rights Commission will take action against police personnel who were involved in mishandling the body of a 19-year-old victim of violence in East Garo.Hills
The girl was axed to death by her estranged lover.
The videos and photos of the victim being carried by the police without completely covering the body had evoked criticism.
When asked, Chairman of Meghalaya Human Rights panel, Justice (Retd) T Vaiphei said that action will be taken.
The human rights commission has directed the Superintendent of Police, East Garo Hills District, to submit a detailed report on the matter for the next hearing after taking suo motu cognizance of the hacking to death of the19-year-old girl in Williamnagar, East Garo Hills District, by James R. Sangma.
