Shillong, Dec 28: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) wanted the state government to take action against Akash Sagar and his accomplices for their insult and disrespect inside a church at Mawlynnong.
HYC president Roykupar Synrem said in a statement that this is a direct attack on people following Christian faith and beliefs and a deliberate attempt to create communal tension in the state and imposing majoritarian agenda which is completely unacceptable.
“HYC, therefore demand the Police Department to arrest the said person and his accomplices, if any, at the earliest and make him face the consequences of his actions as per the provisions of the law(s). An example should be set by the law enforcing agencies of the State in the instant case so that such acts are not repeated in the near future and no one should have the audacity to disrespect the Christian religion in our state,” he said.
