HYC for action against erring MBBS students

Shillong, July 25:The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) wanted strict action against sponsored MBBS students who have not reported back to the state after completing their courses
The HYC suggested the need to increase the bond amount to Rs 1 crore with effect from the academic session 2026-2027.
“We have demanded that the government should take strict and cogent actions against these erring students as well as the students who are undergoing their studies at present, by making them pay the whole course fee along with interest to the state government for non-fulfilment of the conditions agreed upon in the Bond-cum-Agreement. We also urge you to raise the bond amount to Rs 1,00,000,00 with effect from the academic Session 2026-2027 for undergoing the MBBS course under the state government quota with five years compulsory rural services,” HYC president Roykupar Synrem told reporters.
He met Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on Friday and discussed the deficiencies in the state health sector.
The organisation also submitted a memorandum to the health minister.
