Shillong, June 5: The education cell of the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) on Monday asked the state government to set up more Common University Entrance Test (CUET) centres.
In a letter to the education minister Rakkam Sangma, HYC education secretary Enlang Sawian said the unavailability of the CUET centre in the state has compelled the students of the state who are seeking admission for UG And PG courses into various institutions in the country to travel to Guwahati, Assam for appearing the entrance examinations.
“This non availability of the CUET centre has in fact put the students in a state of distress and hardship as they have to encounter various issues such as high cost travel expenditure and long distance journeys. The council hoped that the state government will take necessary steps to address the issue, Sawian said.
