Shillong, Oct 14: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) wanted the state government to put on hold the recruitment to 21 vacant posts of medical and health officers (M&HO).According to HYC, the allocation of vacancies to the three tribes is not in accordance with the state’s job reservation policy.
HYC president Roykupar Synrem led a delegation and met the Commissioner and the Secretary in charge health department, Joram Beda, in this regard.
The delegation handed over a memorandum to Beda, requesting him to address the discrepancies in the allocation of vacancies as announced on October 8.

As per the list, out of 21 M&HO posts, 4 posts were allocated to Khasi and Jaintia candidates (19%), 11 posts to Garo candidates (53%), 2 posts to the unreserved category (9.5%), and 4 posts to Other Scheduled Tribes/Other Scheduled Castes (OST/OSC) (19%).
