Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Ampareen said she had proposed the plan which is a good initiative and if the residents are opposing “we will scrap the project”.

Ampareen, however, questioned whether the ‘people who travel to Laitumkhrah over and above the citizens of Laitumkhrah going to allow this, I have no idea’

According to the local MLA, her initiative was with the support of the Dorbar, the Deputy Commissioner, the Vendors’ Committee and concerned departments to free the way of pedestrians from Laitumkhrah  Police point to Beat House. “But if the people of the Lady Veronica Lane do not want it, I have nothing to say but as an MLA, I wish they would have met with the members of the Dorbar but they went directly to the press and nobody communicated this to us”, she said.

The cabinet minister said after visiting an institution in Lady Veronica Lane area, she was convinced that no inconvenience will be caused to the differently abled students in  two institutions due to the relocation plan.

“I have also expressed that during the school hours, this road will be closed to the public as this wil be no-entry zone or no-vehicle zone and I had also assured that they will be given special passes but now people are saying no, why should I go against the people”, she said.
