Shillong, June 12: India Reads Movement was launched in the city on Wednesday by K Elango, Senior Advisor and former National Secretary, English Language Teachers Association of India(ELTAI).
The department of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL),Sankardev College in collaboration with ELTAI, Meghalaya chapter and Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan organised the launch.
Chief Guest Education Minister Rakkam Sangma stressed the need of inculcating reading habits.
Advisor to education department HM Shangpliang, Eureka F P Lyngdoh, Principal, Sankardev College , Jacob Shylla, Assistant Secretary, ELTAI, Meghalaya Chapter and Christina Kharlukhi, Assistant Professor, Department of TESOL, Sankardev, College spoke.
A book on communication written by T K Bamon, Vice Chancellor, Martin Luther Christian University, Shillong was released on the occasion.
