Shillong, Oct 24: Former minister Ismail Marak joined the BJP on Saturday( Oct 24).
The BJP Meghalaya State in-charge Kanad Purkayastha MP, state co-in-charge Numal Momin, and state president Rikman G. Momin were present.

Marak had served as the transport minister. He was an MLA from the Rongram constituency in 2008. He had also served as a Member of the District Council (MDC) from the Asanang constituency in 2015 under the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).
Welcoming him, senior leaders described his significant addition to the BJP’s growing strength in the region.
The central leadership has entrusted Ismail Marak with the responsibility of overseeing future joiners.
