Israeli strike kills Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
Shillong, Mar 1 (Agencies): Ayatollah Ali Khmenei, Iran’s Supreme leader, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Saturday. The strike was supported by the US government.
The 86-year-old leader ruled Iran for 36 years and never allowed the US to show its high-handedness over the country or its governance. A post by Iran Times on X, formerly Twitter, praised the leader and wrote, “Before you die, be sure to tell your children and future generations that we witnessed the time when an 86-year-old mujahid fought the battle of Islam alone, while the whole world and Islamic nations were drowned in the sleep of silence and indifference. Even at this age, he remained steadfast, neither weary nor bowed, but continued to raise the voice of truth. This is a chapter of history that future generations will read with amazement and pride. May Allah protect this great man, grant him health and perseverance, and grant victory to the truth.”
Social media was abuzz with posts of Iranian women celebrating the death of the leader. Women were the worst sufferers under the Islamist rule in Iran with no rights or independence outside the burqah.
President Donald Trump wrote on the official X handle of the White House, “Khamenei, one of the most evil people in History, is dead. This is not only Justice for the people of Iran, but for all Great Americans, and those people from many Countries throughout the World, that have been killed or mutilated by Khamenei…”
