Shillong, July 12: The East Jaintia National Council (EJNC) and Jaintia National Council (JNC) have decided to form one body christened Jaintia National Council.
The East Jaintia National Council (EJNC) celebrated its 8 years of commitment to the community at Khliehriat west community hall.
The programme was chaired by Damonmi Dkhar and the council also released a documentary film which showcased its journey since it was formed.
In the programme, the two councils (EJNC & JNC) took a step to be part of only one council and the name was given as Jaintia National Council. The newly elected Central Executive Committee was formed and the new body was sworn in with its president Sambormi Lyngdoh and General Secretary Wadhwa Suting.
Robertjune Kharjahrin, president HYC CEC administered the oath.
Several NGO leaders, including the president HANM Lamphrang Kharbani, president JSU Jersome shylla, president JYF OL Tariang also spoke on the occasion.
Special cultural dance by the youths of East Jaintia Hills marked the occasion.
Dr. P Nongtdu, principal of Jaintia Eastern College encouraged the new body to work hard for the betterment of the community.
