Shillong, March 27: Jhalupara Village Council in collaboration with Shillong Cantonment Lease Holders’ Association and various other organisations felicitated local MLA Sanbor Shullai on Sunday at Jhalupara community hall for the initiative taken by him for providing additional water supply through PHE department to Jhalupara and cantonment areas.
Headman of Jhalupara Mohan Limbu appreciated Shullai’s efforts to provide various development schemes for Jhalupara.
Limbu said this is the first time that a playground has been initiated by the MLA.
Speaking on the occasion, Lease Holders Association working president MD Zakaria said Shullai has been taking various initiatives to help resolve cantonment lease holders’ problem.
Shullai provided financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh 40 thousand for construction of two septic cum toilets for 30 BPL families residing in Jhalupara cantonment area and also said that various other development initiatives will be taken for the area.
Shullai said his focus will be cantonment area as it needed much more development initiatives as the area has been deprived of development for the last 50 years.
During the programme, a discussion was held for one -way traffic arrangement, and designated no-parking area in order to resolve traffic congestion in the locality which was attended by officials of the traffic personal from East Khasi Hills.
