Shillong, June 1: The Jaintia National Council members on Friday met the family of Telme Talang, who was murdered on May 30, at Lapangap in West Jaintia Hills.
The council members met the village headman, Deimonmi Lyngdoh, to know about the incident. Lyngdoh said a group of people, who were allegedly from outside the village, assaulted Talang and murdered him.

The Nartiang police told the JNC members that the inquiry is in progress.
JNC Western Zone Vice President Hamehi Bamon condemned the killing of Talang and urged the government to take action against the perpetrators. The incident took place in the border village and JNC suspected that the perpetrators were from neighbouring Assam.
