Shillong, June 23: After a decision taken by the government on Thursday, the KHADC has decided to close down all check gates only along National Highways and not other places.
The chief executive member, Titosstar Well Chyne, said the forest check posts of the KHADC will still continue to function as they will have to deter smuggling.

Chyne added that the council is waiting for an official order in this regard.
Earlier, the District Council Affairs Minister Lahkmen Rymbui told reporters that a meeting chaired by the chief minister took the decision to ask the KHADC and the JHADC to close down the check gates along national highways and they greed to do so.
