KSU wants rectification of CSIR NET examination centre allocation

Shillong,Dec 21: The Khasi Students’ Union has sought the intervention of the education minister Rakkam A Sangma for immediate rectification of CSIR NET examination centre allocation.

In a letter to Sangma on Thursday, Chairman of the KSU education cell Pynkmenlang Sanmiet said, “The Union earnestly requests your to liaise with the relevant authorities, urging them to rectify the faulty allocation of Examination Centers (by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for the CSIR NET as this will start form December 26-28. Such corrective action is imperative to ensure that the aspirations of many postgraduate students from Meghalaya are not thwarted due to logistical challenges beyond their control.”

He pointed out that many students from  Meghalaya are being assigned to examination centers in Jorhat and Dibrugarh, despite having selected these centers as their 3rd and 4th preferences.

“This unwanted repeated allocation by the NTA places a significant burden on the applicants, especially those who hailed from less privileged families, as they now face considerable challenges in terms of logistics and financial implications. It is pertinent to highlight that the state of Meghalaya boasts a sufficient number of Testing Centers,” Sanmiet said.

The recently concluded UGC NET (University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test) has demonstrated the successful accommodation of applicants within the state, Sanmiet said, “Therefore, it is perplexing  that the CSIR NET allocation process deviates from the precedent set by the UGC NET.
