Laban gets new municipal market

Shillong, July 18: Laban Municipal Market at Iewdak was opened on Saturday (July 18) by local MLA and  cabinet minister Sanbor Shullai.

Constructed at the cost of Rs 14, 27,50,000 crore from the NEC, the new market complex has varied facilities.

The foundation stone for the project was laid in 2022.

It was executed by the Shillong Municipal Board, in collaboration with Dorbar Shnong Laban.

This marks another step towards strengthening urban infrastructure and improving public market facilities for the community.

The programme was attended by Sanbor Shullai, Minister, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, as the Chief Guest, in the presence of S. K. Bhalla, Secretary, North Eastern Council as the Guest of Honour,  P. K. Boro, Chief Executive Officer, Shillong Municipal Board, E. L. Kharwanlang, Rangbah Shnong, Dorbar Shnong Laban, and Shri F. B. Chyne, Executive Engineer, Shillong Municipal Board.

The inauguration brought together officials, local representatives, and members of the community, reflecting a collective commitment to enhancing civic infrastructure and creating better public spaces for the people of Shillong.
