Shillong, Sept 10: A police officer at Laban police station identified as R. Marwein on Tuesday faced suspension for his misconduct.
According to the police, on the night of September 9, a woman reported an assault by a taxi driver at Laban police station. Concerns were raised about the conduct of the officer on night duty, alleged to be under the influence of alcohol, leading to a quarrel.
The women police station promptly assisted the victim, and a case has been registered based on her FIR. An enquiry was swiftly conducted by the Laban Sector Police Officer, and departmental action has been initiated by the SP, East Khasi Hills Sylvester Nongtnger, against the officer concerned, said a post by the Meghalaya Police.
“We suspended the officer following his misconduct”, the SP told reporters on Tuesday.
“The public is encouraged to report any similar issues or seek help by dialing 112” said the police.
