“We will take action on anything which goes beyond the law. We have to understand the situation as we are here not to protect anybody nor are we here to hide anything but before doing anything we have to follow due process of law,” Rymbui said.

The UDP wanted Rymbui to take action against the incident of using tear gas against teachers who were protesting peacefully as it had drawn criticism from all quarters of society.

His response was after one of the pressure groups, HITO threatened to march to the secretariat against the government’s delay to suspend those involved in issuing as well as executing the order to use tear gas during the incident.

The UDP leaders had earlier defended Rymbui by saying that it was difficult fo him to take decisions on many issues related to the teachers since the finance department was not under him.

In his response, Rymbui said everybody in a coalition government has a collective responsibility to serve the state.

“It is not a question of one man but we have to see that the issue at hand, if we can resolve it we should resolve it,” he said.
