Shillong, May 23: Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma has warned of protest against the state government for the plan to privatise  Tura medical college which is 85% complete.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Mukul has called upon like-minded people to protest against the government’s anti-people’s decision.

According to Mukul, there is a big difference between jobs in government and the private sectors. “Private sector always adopts their hire and fire mode that means there is no social security of the employees, who will be employed in the private sector,” he said.

He warned that after the Public Private Partnership mode, the government may convert the venture  into a full fledged private sector.

“I urge upon people to join me in protest because I will be protesting and I will discuss with the citizens and we will urge upon the government and if the government does not respond positively then naturally we will have to protest,” he said.

“As far as I am concerned and those people who think for the secured future for our citizens of the state keeping in mind the interest of our youth and children and generation next, we must collectively pressurize the government to rescind this decision and to proceed ahead to complete the project and establish Tura medical college as a government medical college. No PPP, no privatisation keeping in mind the overall interest of our people in the long term rather from a long term perspective,” he said.
