Shillong, July 2: Meghalaya Lokayukta has ordered an inquiry into the alleged low quality aluminium roofing sheets and stopped their distribution.
The action was following the complaint filed by HYC president Roy Kupar Synrem against DD Sangma, State Director of Housing.
The order said that Lokayukta has seen the letter on June 28 received from the office of the Director General of Police deputing Bipul Das, MPS, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Crime) to the Lokayukta.
“Shri Bipul Das, MPS is directed to conduct the preliminary inquiry and on the basis of material, information and documents collected, seek the comments on the allegations made in the complaint from the public servant and competent authority and after obtaining the comments of the concerned public servant(s) and competent authority. submit the report by 03/09/2024″, the Lokayukta said.
The order said that as far as aluminium roofing sheets in the godowns are concerned, ‘status quo as on today shall be maintained, that is, no aluminium roofing sheets shall be lifted/substituted/distributed to the beneficiaries”.
