Mahila Cong demands relief after fuel hike

Shillong, June 7: The Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress, under the leadership of Joplyn Scott Shylla, held a protest on June 4 against the hike in petrol and diesel prices, which continues to place an unbearable burden on the common people, especially the underprivileged sections of society.

The organisation expressed concern over the rising cost of fuel, stating that every increase in petrol and diesel prices directly affects the daily lives of ordinary citizens. From transportation costs to the prices of essential commodities, the impact is felt most severely by daily wage earners, farmers, small traders, and low-income families who are already struggling to make ends meet.

Through this protest, the Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress reaffirmed its commitment to standing with the people of Meghalaya and raising its voice against policies that adversely affect the poor and vulnerable sections of society, Shylla said.
