Shillong, Mar 7: A man was found dead in a city hotel on Thursday.
According to police, upon receipt of information from staff of Hotel Assembly in Police Bazar that one occupant of a room hadn’t come out for more than a day, Police team from Sadar PS, in presence of witnesses, broke open the door. The body of Sijo Joseph (47), a resident of Beltola Road, Guwahati was found lying on the bed.

The inquest has been carried out and prima facie it seems to be a case of death due to overdose of sedatives and anti-depressants. No signs of foul play were seen. The body has been sent for post mortem, the SP Rituraj Raj Ravi said in a statement.
The family is being contacted and further investigation in this matter is being conducted, police added.
