Shillong, June 19: A man killed his wife and kept the body for three days at his rented house in Nongrah Nonglum on the outskirts of the city before he surrendered after a chase by the police.
They have been identified as Priya Khongstia from UmñiuhTmar (24) and Donald Sohtun (25) from Mylliem Mawpynthih.
East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem said on Thursday that the accused is currently in judicial custody.
“He suspected her of having an affair leading to the crime”, the SP said.
According to the police, the incident was reported in last week of May.
The man used a stone to attack the victim following which he used a cloth to sttangulate her.
Though the man had claimed the victim to be his wife, police said they have been living together for a few months and were not married.
Acccording to the police, the accused is a married man but was separated from his wife.
