Manipur guv interacts with women bodies, security personnel to resolve crisis

Imphal, July 4 (UNI): Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey had a series of interactions with women bodies, security personnel and political leaders to resolve the crisis in the state.

Uikey met representatives of Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Co-ordinating Committee, a body of women vendors of the iconic all-women market of Imphal at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday.

The women representatives appraised the governor about the prevailing situation in the aftermath of the ethnic clash between the two communities that started on May 3 at Churachandpur. They requested the Governor to restore peace and tranquility in the State and to make arrangements to return the displaced people who have been taking shelter in different relief camps of both Valley and Hills Districts to their respective places.

The governor advised them to extend their fullest cooperation to the security forces who are discharging their responsibilities to contain the situation and restore normalcy in the state. She reiterated that the state has been experiencing untold miseries for the last two months which are really affected in all spheres.

Uikey said that she has already kept the Prime Minister informed about the fateful incident and requested to extend all possible help to restore peace and normalcy in the State.
