Shillong, July 17: The Mawbah Dorbar held a meeting with the house owners of the area on Sunday and unanimously opposed the move of the state government to relocate the Harijan Colony.
Speaking on the occasion, the headman, David Syiemliehâµ said the Dorbar is committed to even move the court if the government does not review its decision.
Other representatives of the Dorbar said they will hold atleast two public meetings if the government does not listen to them.
Later, the locality will be closed for a few days as a mark of protest, they added.
Senior residents of the area also spoke in this regard.
What irked them is that the Dorbar was not consulted before the government decided on the matter.
The Dorbar had also invited local MLA Mohendro Rapsang for the meeting.
Rapsang said that though he is supporting the government, as the local MLA, he should have been consulted before taking the decision by the government.
He will meet the deputy chief minister, Prestone Tynsong to take up the matter.
