MCA debunks SWKH player’s allegation as ‘unsubstantiated’
Divension Lyngdoh could not make it to Phase II of MCA’s selection for the Meghalaya senior team

Shillong, Aug 7: The Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) has debunked the allegations of discrimination by Divension Lyngdoh against the apex council as “unsubstantiated”.
The MCA, which met on Thursday, said the allegation was “an attempt to cover up his deficiencies as a player, which requires improvement with regular practice and dedication”.
Lyngdoh, who hails from South West Khasi Hills, was not selected for short-listing to Phase II of the MCA’s selection for the Meghalaya senior team.
“Although the player apologised subsequently, the allegations… were totally defamatory in nature. The council resolved that such an apology is not fully acceptable and tenable after damaging the reputation and goodwill of the association, officials, independent selectors and all associated with MCA,” the statement said.
It also noted that such unfounded allegations create unwarranted confusion and doubt about the integrity and transparency of the selection process, which is undertaken exclusively by a selection committee under strict guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.
The Apex Council resolved that such negative and unsubstantiated allegations of not being favoured with selection due to lack of performance will be viewed seriously and considered as an act of gross indiscipline.
