MCA holds first-ever consolidated players’ interactive session

Shillong, Feb 22: Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) president James P.K. Sangma organised a consolidated Players’ Interactive Session, bringing together players from various teams under the MCA banner.

Although Sangma had previously visited players at various locations across the state — including interactions at Shillong, Nongkhrah in Ri Bhoi, and Alotgre in Tura, where he also inspected grounds and engaged with players and support staff — this was the first time in MCA’s history that a single consolidated players’ meet spanning all major playing categories was organised.
Speaking on the initiative, Sangma underscored the importance of creating consistent and meaningful channels of communication between players and administrators.
He noted that unlike in previous years, where players had limited access to the MCA’s administering office bearers, such regular interactive forums are essential to understand player concerns, gather feedback and enable the Association to function more effectively.
“We are grateful to our new President for this step as earlier, despite having many concerns and suggestions regarding the MCA’s various decisions, we had little to no access to administrators for providing feedback,” said a player from the Men’s Senior Team,
“A two-way interaction is important because it not only makes players feel involved and heard but also helps administrators implement measures for the association’s overall growth,” he added.
A senior women’s player said, “Matters of the association need more transparency and such an interaction is a step in that direction. It is important to have such sessions regularly as we can also understand the decision-making processes and the roadmap of the association for player development.”
The interactive session follows a series of player-centric initiatives Sangma has undertaken since assuming office as President of the MCA.
