Shillong, July 12: The state government gave more than 80 single window clearances to coke oven plants in the state, Shillong MP Vincent Pala told reporters on Wednesday.
Under pressure from the High Court of Meghalaya, the state government has started demolishing the coke oven plants in the state.

Pala said the blame is on the government.
“The same government which had given the single window clearance is now demolishing the plants”, he pointed out.
He wanted to know how the coke oven plants have been functioning all along with the knowledge of the government.
The High Court of Meghalaya had already asked justice (retired) BP Katakey to probe into the nexus of police with the coke oven plant owners.
