Shillong, June 10: The Additional DCP (crime), Indore, has confirmed that police have recovered no chat between Sonam Raghuvanshi and Raj Kushwaha.
All the chat stories are baseless, said Rajesh Dandotiya in Indore. Meghalaya Monitor found several reports on social media mentioning messages exchanged between Sonam and Raj. However, sources in Indore informed that the police have “categorically said no chat was recovered”.
Sonam is being brought to Shillong on transit remand and will be produced in court. Her sudden appearance and the arrest of four persons, who allegedly helped her in the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, are stoking social media comments against her and leading to fake news spreading like wildfire.
In Shillong, East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem said that after marriage, Sonam was in touch with Kushwaha on the phone. “Whether she shared live location with him (in Sohra) is not yet confirmed, and we will probe into that. We have not found her phone yet. But it is a fact that she was in touch with Raj that day (May 23), and the latter was in touch with the three assailants,” he added.
Usually, trekkers heading to Nongriat take the Tyna route. However, the Indore couple chose the Mawlakhiat route. “It could be that they searched on the Internet and found the place. It could be that they chose the place to commit the crime at that time,” said Syiem.
The SP also said several reports have been stating the amount that Sonam paid the three persons, “but nothing has been confirmed yet, and we have to investigate further”.
“We have to put the pieces together,” he said.
Transportation mystery
When asked how Sonam got out of Shillong, Syiem said she changed taxis several times, starting from Mawkdok and reached Guwahati. She did not stay in Guwahati. She also changed trains several times. Some media reports pointed out that on May 25, Sonam Raghuvanshi took a train to Siliguri from where she went to Indore by train. She met Raj Kushwaha in Indore and stayed in his rented house. A driver later dropped her off at Varanasi, from where she went to Ghazipur.
However, the Indore police said it was a fake information.

Five persons, including Sonam, will be produced in the court on Wednesday.
